Fire! Fire!

Okay, so sometime around 2 a.m. "Spontaneous Combustion" occurred (according to one of our brilliant neighbors). Around 2:20 there was a banging on our front door that turned out to be a policeman letting us know there was a fire and that ashes were raining down on our cars and houses. Who knows how the fire actually started, I'm sure they're going to investigate that. So Jason tells me to get upstairs and get Seb out of the house, which we do, only to see the tree furthest in on our driveway pretty well on fire. I guess, the policeman said that there were flames coming off the top of the tree about 20 feet. The most alarming part was that it didn't seem that any of our neighbors bothered to wake us but a policeman did...Who knows for sure, we may have just been sleeping through the neighbors. So, we moved the cars into the street and the fire trucks came in and started spraying everything down. Seb thought it was great and currently wants to be a fireman. There were probably three cop cars here, along with two big ol' fire trucks. They finally left around 5 a.m. or so and we went back upstairs to go back to bed. Unfortunately, I was worried that the fire may start up again (I'm such a worry-wart) so I opened the blinds and kept getting up to check on Seb and look out the window every time I got up to pee. Thankfully, nothing else happened and I finally fell asleep sometime around 6, who knew the Food Network stayed on so late. hehe
Anyway, our driveway looks like it snowed this morning and our houses are all dripping wet, not sure if that's from the firemen or just the moisture in the air. Either way, the poor, GINORMOUS tree at the end of the driveway is pretty scorched. What a night!

Wow, now that's a crazy night, you sound like you got about as much sleep as I did! Glad everyone is okay and no injuries! Hopefully they can investigate and figure out what happened!

Wow! What a night! Well if you didn't get any sleep and Amber didn't get any sleep and I know I didn't get any sleep, we should have had a "fire party" and danced around the burning tree naked!! LOL Ok so I'm not really serious but it sounded like fun! Yeah gotta love that food network! In the morning they have infomercials though. Way too many sleepless nights for me in this household already! Glad everything is ok though, except the poor tree.
