Well folks, he's here!
Shanon James was born at 1:30am this morning (Monday, May 7th). We came into the hospital at 6:00 yesterday evening at 7 cm and I got my epidural around 7:30. Around 12:30 I started feeling some pretty intense contractions around 12:30 and I decided that a little prayers and preparation would be good right about then. So I said a quick prayer and reminded Jason that no matter what I might say during labor and delivery that I stilled loved him very much...I don't think I really said anything though.
So when the time came I did a little test push and my nurse thought the doctor should get into our room so that I could start pushing him out. It was only about 15 minutes of actual push time and he was out. Of course, I was starving and getting pretty uncomfortable so I had plenty of motivation!
Then out he came (conehead and all) at 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 21 inches long. And the cool part? That's right people...He looks like ME! His hair is dark, his eyes still have that newborn blue look to them, his skin is somewhat olive complected right now and his profile is the exact replica of my dad! I was telling Jason, now we have two little guys, one Salt, one Pepper!
This labor definitely wasn't the big drawn out drama that I had with Seb, it wasn't too fast either though. I was able to get my two doses of antibiotics and epidural in plenty of time to have a good delivery.
Well, I hope all are doing well. I'm going to rest now. Talk to you all later.
