We snagged a family pass to the High Desert Museum and I took the boys on Saturday. We had so much fun, walking around, looking at everything...Shan got pretty weirded out in the Plateau Indian exhibit though. It's kind of dark and there are lots of noises and displays of Indian and soldier's clothes but it's really great otherwise. Seb loved learning about it all and there was a huge white sturgeon in the tank inside that they all enjoyed.
We also saw turtles and lizards (but thankfully no snakes). The lynx and bobcat were pretty cool. The lynx was staring through the glass at the boys (probably hungry or something). Then we went to see the birds of prey. The eagles were gorgeous and the little owl was really cute! The porcupine was so funny. He was sleeping and we could hear him snoring or breathing hard. There was also a little gray fox.
We went to the settler's cabins and the older boys got to learn about life in 1904, washing laundry and helping smooth the wood for some chairs. We saved the very best for last, of course...The otters. They are my absolute favorite so I took the boys into the observation area and they just loved it. The little otter kept swimming up to the window, it was great! I had so much fun with them and they seemed to really love it too. I can't wait to take them back again!
