So, let's start from the beginning. One (very short) week after we got moved over here Seb had his birthday. That's right, my baby turned 5! --It was a little bittersweet. We had a small family get-together. He wanted a Batman theme, so we ordered the cake and he even had a special guest to bring out his gifts. It was a nice, low-key event (considering our garage and house were in complete disarray from the move). I think all the kiddies enjoyed themselves though. We got glow-in-the-dark stickers for them and little bat rings and whistles. And they were all sugared up from the cake. All Seb's presents had a "super hero" theme, everything from Transformers to Spiderman, with the exception of his first real bow from Grandma & Grandpa...He was stoked! He even got a trigger and arm guard for it and everything and has managed to get out and target shoot with Daddy once.
We've been trying to do something fun everyday, either somewhere in town or here at the house. So we're staying busy playing, going to MOPS, story time, going to the park, whatever makes the day enjoyable. Seb even found a couple leaves that had holes in them from a caterpillar so we went to the library and got "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to make those leaves a true treasure!
On Tuesday we went to the west side fire station for the open house. It was pretty neat. We got a tour of the entire station and then the boys took turns playing on all the equipment, riding and driving everything. Then they got into these cute little turnouts and climbed on the back of a truck for a photo. I wish the crew would have talked a little more about fire safety with the kids, so I was thinking about maybe asking to volunteer next year to do a little "pop quiz" kind of talk with the kids and pass out those cool little glow-in-the-dark bracelets.
Thursday the boys and I went with a bunch of friends from MOPS to the Central Oregon Pumpkin Company. It was a blast! We went through the maze, rode the train, played in the petting zoo, and I got the fun job of pulling my little men out to the pumpkin patch to get "the perfect punkin".
And today we went to Jason first (and last) flag football game. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera but I think my fingers were too cold to snap any pictures anyway. It was absolutely freezing out and his team lost but it was fun to watch until he pulled his quad. He decided that it's not much fun playing a game with guys that complain about everything and don't enjoy themselves. So tomorrow at church we're going to get "connected" to some fun groups and maybe start our own "game night" or something.
