Autumn Fun

So this guy turned 12 last month. That made him official to hunt this year. He got his buck & doe tag but only got 8 days to hunt for his buck and has only the next four days for his doe. He's been so busy with school & sports tho, he hasn't had much time for anything else.

He did go out with Jason & I a few times during our season and it was fun getting to teach him a few things about hunting. This was my first year archery hunting, so it was fun to have Seb be part of it.

Jason got his buck two weeks into the season. He called me after he shot him so I got to come out and help track him...Awesome new experience & I was so excited to be there when he & his best pal found him.

I got my buck the second to last day of the season. It was an amazing experience (and a challenging one too)! After days of not seeing anything or losing shooting light right before the dear would come out or losing my hunting blind to a wind storm (which we eventually recovered with, thankfully, only one tear in the top) I was so thankful to help provide for my family. I got this guy at about 30 yards with my dad's old Martin Phantom II bow and I stopped him by making my own grunt sound than the tube popped off my peep sight just before I shot him. I blew threw his front shoulder and lung and he ran about 100 yards and collapsed in the field. I was in my homemade blind (on a completely different field that I was originally going to hunt) and Jason & Seb were all the way at the other end of the field so they didn't see anything until Cleav & Ellie showed up and helped me pull my buck off the field. It was a fantastic all-around experience!

These cute boys played tackle football this year. It was Seb's second year and Shan's first. It was great watching them play!

Seb & his best friend Kody both had championship games but played on different teams.

Seb's team made it to the Superbowl game, where they beat the undefeated Adrian Antelopes and won the whole shebang! It was fantastic!

Shan had an awesome interception in the last game. I couldn't have been more proud of him. His team had a BBQ to end their season and the coaches gave each player a backpack with their jersey number on it. It was pretty cool of them.

Luke had his first kindergarten field trip so we went along to the pumpkin patch. We watched 6 year olds run wild all over the farm, play in the bounce houses, ride the barrel train, and pick their pumpkins.

Brandon got to pick out a pumpkin too since he was along for the trip. He even rode with the big kids on the hayride.

We haven't had much down time since school started so we took the boys shooting. All the kiddos had a great time and even the baby got to shoot the .22.

Finally wrangled up the boys for a pumpkin photo. I love these cute boys!

Happy Autumn everyone!
