Christmas has become one of my favorite holidays! I think it's mostly because I'm a mom. I love all of it. Wrapping gifts, sneaking to the stores while the boys are in school to buy things for them and Jason, decorating the house (which we started much earlier than usual this year), dates with Jason where we go shopping for the boys and snag lunch while we're out.
I love the excitement in the house that builds as we get closer to Christmas morning. And of course, there's the sleeping in mornings during Christmas break, the hot chocolate afternoons, the Christmas movie marathons. Every little part is fun for me...Well, maybe I get a little overwhelmed with how much baking I do for friends & neighbors and such. haha
This year we made new stockings for the boys (I think we're going to have to do a couple for J & I for next year too). We also did stocking holders. Papa cut all the wood for me and Jason did the assembly, then we stained and painted the chalk paint.
The boys let us sleep in until 7a and then we started some hot chocolate and got the stockings down. They got lots of goodies.
Seb got a pretty cool "fridge rover" magnet that crawls up metal.
Santa brought B a vacuum, which turned out to be a huge hit (especially considering he's afraid of our real vacuum and cries whenever I use it).
Luke asked Santa for a gun and got an entire swat suit. He ran around the house as Nicholas Angel all morning (for those of you Hot Fuzz fans out there).
The boys got super cool science kits & fun shirts from Tutu!
The big boys showed B how it's done when they simultaneously tore into their Tonkas from Grandma & Grandpa.
B had fun pushing himself around in the dump truck & playing with his new blocks.
Luke got his much anticipated beardo & new cowboy boots (which he wore all over the house).
Shan made a Christmas plate for us at school this year. I remember one my sister made for our parents when she was little. It was always my favorite plate in our house.
The boys got new tablets from Grandma & Grandpa so once all the unwrapping was done they enjoyed some down time with them.
And Seb got the new Wimpy Kid book, which he of course finished in a day.
I got a sweet photo holder from Seb, super cute rustic napkin holder from my mom, and some yummy smelling wax blocks from my sissy. And Jason got me some awesome new kitchen goodies (a melon baller with fruit & avocado scoop, a dough cutter, a new apple corer), and some great movies that I've been wanting for a long time. And he got a survival knife, a Hooyman, and a new ground blind.
We had a great Christmas this year...Well, I guess we always do. But it was really nice for the boys to wake up in our own house and not have to be anywhere or haul a bunch of stuff to and from places. I could really get used to that! haha And we finished the day with a delicious (not-so-traditional) dinner at Wen's.
I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas day with your loved ones as well! And from our family to yours, we wish you all a wonderfully blessed & safe New Year!
