Science Fun & a New Room

Seb's actual birthday was on Thursday so we did a little bbq with some of Jason's family. He got a couple of pretty neat gifts too. He got a rocket from his aunt that Jason's pretty eager to help him use. haha And he got a three pack Smithsonian science kit that consist of a sea monster habitat (which we're testing out already), a dinosaur excavation site, and a glow in the dark volcano...Also something Jason's excited to help out with.
Friday after school we decided to get started with the sea monsters. He's was taping on the background while Shan was expressing concern over the little sea monsters' fear of a t-rex. The little sea monster eggs are called "triops".
Then we had to pour in a bag of white sand and he had to shake it up to make it even on the bottom. We needed distilled water for the tank so we took a break to take the boys headed to auntie Cyndy's house to run around and play. I told them Jason & I had to "run errands" and then came home to rearrange the bedrooms.
When we finally got the boys home Seb was a little confused to see Lucas' old bedroom with a big blue bow on the door but he was pretty excited to open the door and see all his stuff set up.
Along with all his other things, he now has a new desk, that Jason & I snagged from down the street, for him to do his homework. We've put up his Angry Birds poster and his dirt bike poster and now all he needs is his Beavers decal pack for the walls.
Saturday morning we got back to work on the sea monsters. Seb poured half the packet of triop eggs and we watched them sink to the bottom while the moss stayed at the top.
He read all the directions to us so now we know they'll take a minimum of 2-4 days to hatch and how much we need to feed them, along with all the warnings about what will happen if we put small triops in with the larger ones. So now we just wait.
