Go Cubs!

This is Seb's first year at Little League and we've all been pretty excited about it but it's a little tough for Shanon because he loves Seb so much and really looks up to him. Everything Seb does, Shan wants to do too and he's been feeling a little left out so I decided to make some cool stuff for us to cheer Seb on at the games. We made a cool pennant with Seb's team colors and his number and I drew some stitching on round white foamies to make baseballs. Shan even has his own version of a "foam finger" with his baseball mitt sign.

We took the signs to Seb's opening ceremonies, which was pretty bittersweet for me, but it was so much fun to cheer him on and wave our little signs as Seb and his team ran the bases at Genna Stadium! It's really great how Little League makes such a big deal about all the players. Even the big kids (who've probably been playing for quite a while) were cheering on all the little guys!
Here he is in his little uniform! He got everything at his first team meeting last Monday and he was so excited when they gave him the #6 shirt since that is Jason's softball number (it was also his baseball number in high school).

And even though Shan's not an official player, he's still an important little fan so we decided to get a jersey for him too. We went to T-Shirts R Us and asked them to make a little shirt for Shan. The guy there was awesome and had it ready within a couple hours! Luckily, Shanny also has some grey warm ups that look like baseball pants and he also has his own mitt and a foam bat that looks like it's made of wood, so he's all set now too.

Seb had practice yesterday (only 7 players made it) and they had a great time! Seb got in some batting practice, ran some bases, and did some fielding too. Jason was throwing the ball to Shan outside the field so he wouldn't be left out and then Seb's coach called Shan over and asked if he wanted to hit too. So they let Shan bat and run the bases too. He was having so much fun...It was so cool for him to get to be involved too.
Seb's coach was talking with us after practice and said he'd like to let Shan get in on a game or two this season! Isn't that so cool? Here's my little "almost 3-year-old" wanting to be involved, not old enough to sign up for the team and the coach is still cool enough to include all the little siblings too! I think Shan was having such a great time he almost stripped a gear! I think it's going to be a really cool year for both of these boys!
