I think the best part of embracing a holiday is stretching it out over a few days. So Friday after Seb got home from school and his Valentine's Day party we made a "Love-ly lunch"...haha I know, I'm so corny.
Then Saturday morning we got up and made the boys Valentine french toast with whipped cream...
...and opened our gifts from each other...Nothing huge, just love notes to each other, the boys each got a new matchbox car, and Jason a small race car replica from the boys and a new vest from me. I got PS I Love You! And Kodi got a "Honeypop Sucker--The boys picked it out.
After breakfast the boys played and Jason & I worked on cleaning up the last bit of junk in the house (left by the previous tenant). We headed into town around 12:30 and ran a couple errands. Then we went to the Old Mill for Valentine's lunch and WinterFest. Although we didn't get to see the snow boarding, we did some the cross-country relay and the awesome ice sculptures.
Dinner was supposed to be Fettuccine with sauteed mushrooms and shrimp and chicken with asparagus, but Jason didn't want me doing all the work so we ordered the Valentine's heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's. --The men enjoyed it. And then we baked cookies, decorated them (well, Shan snuck a few bites), and played on the Wii.
It was pretty nice having a fairly laid-back day with my guys. And we even managed to accomplish some much needed chores around the house!
