Auto Shop Therapy

I've been a little depressed lately with things going on, so Jason suggested I help him out with tearing down and rebuilding a transmission that he bought off CraigsList for $25--Such an addicting website!

Last night we tore down the valve body and I was assigned the big impressive job of labelling all the bolts...It wasn't the most glorious work but it kept my mind occupied.

Tonight we took off the front pump and reverse input drum! It was actually a lot of fun. At first we were reading the tranny manual, since this is a first for Jason too, and then when Jason popped a pin on the 2-4 band I really got into it and tried to pull the drum out by myself!

I always thought being a mechanic would be fun but I guess I just didn't really think much of it until I started getting involved with this tranny and having fun...And I thought welding was cool!

I'll have to post some pictures...We're kind of stuck now, waiting for a rebuild kit, but I'm having a great time so far!
