As parents, you always want the best for your children. They are your pride and joy, your precious gift, you'd do anything for them, right? Well I say "Enough is enough"! Tonight Jason and I, along with Shanon began a new journey toward self-soothing.
We have rocked Shanon to sleep since he was born, just the way we did with Sebastian. However, my boys have proven to be two completely different children in every way! Where Seb was a much more independent baby, Shanon is certainly high maintenance. Seb was truly the Perfect Baby but I think Shan will be the one to challenge us in every aspect of his life.
So tonight, we have begun down a new road, with controlled crying.
Although it will be difficult at first I know he'll get the hang of it...And now people can stop reminding me of how I fuss over my children too much. I think maybe other people just forget how they raised their own kids...?

Don't worry about fussing over your kids...that is what good mom's do!
Now if you create a situation where they can't function if you aren't involved...that may be another case. You don't hit me as that kind of person.
Everyone goes through a stage like you are going through sooner or later. It's up to the parent as when to do it and the longer you wait the harder.
At least you are doing it! These kind of things take determination, patience and good parenting!
I'm doing the exact same thing! Corb loved to sleep in his own bed, Linc seems to think he'll die in his crib.
I'm absolutely hating the fight. I think fussing over our kids is our right and I'd rather be a too-affectionate mom than one who didn't love on them enough.
Keep up the good work and don't doubt yourself too much! Parenting decisions are best when they suit your kids AND you!
